For several years, the Lexington Opera Society has offered a Spring Opera Workshop -- a short, intense course offering classes in the basic skills required to perform opera. The next workshop is planned for spring, 2008.

In past workshops, students came from around the country to work with outstandingfaculty such as Jim Rodgers. The schedule includes daily master classes, coaching sessions and staging rehearsals, as well as classes in related subjects such as costume and make-up.

At the end of the 10-day workshop, a special evening of opera scenes is presented in a small theater on the University of Kentucky campus. This popular event is FREE and open to the public.

Workshop classes are also open to the public and provide a wonderful way to get to the heart of opera training.

The Spring Opera Workshop is one way the Lexington Opera Society addresses its goal of providing education programs that support UK Opera Theatre.
